Big fiddle

Isaac learnt cello via English folk music – a rare background for a player of this normally-classical instrument. This has given them their own unique, self-developed playing style, drawn from traditional fiddle techniques.

Now Isaac plays and accompanies English, Celtic, French and Scandinavian folk tunes, and is at their happiest when playing for dancing, or accompanying traditional song. Isaac also teaches workshops, in accompanying by ear, aspects of playing for bal dancing, or ear-based music theory for folkies.

Following training in maqamat, the musical systems of Middle Eastern music, Isaac also plays maqam-based music, on both cello, and moroccan violin.

Isaac’s playing is joyful and warm, energetic yet sensitive – and there’s nothing like the deep rich sound of the cello. They are available to play for a range of occasions.
